SASH WINDOWS & LISTED BUILDINGS
Sash window repairs.
Repair first, replace last — sympathetic sash window repairs and joinery on listed and period buildings, across Lincoln & Lincolnshire.
01 / REPAIR, NOT REPLACE
Original windows are worth keeping.
The windows in a listed or period building are part of its character — and usually better made than anything that would replace them. Most "beyond repair" sashes aren't. Sticking, draughts, rattles and rot are all repairable, and a properly repaired original window will outlast a modern replacement.
I'll always look at repair first and be straight with you when something genuinely does need replacing.
02 / WHAT I CAN DO
Repairs & restoration.
Splicing out rotten sills and bottom rails, re-cording and re-balancing sashes, freeing painted-shut windows, easing and adjusting, fitting new beads, and discreet draught-proofing so the window works as it should without losing its looks.
Where sections of timber are beyond saving, I make repairs in matching timber and profiles, so the new work sits quietly alongside the old.
03 / LISTED & PERIOD BUILDINGS
Working within the building's character.
Listed buildings need a careful approach — like-for-like materials, traditional details and no unnecessary changes. I've worked on period properties for years and understand what conservation officers are looking for, so the work goes smoothly as well as looking right.
If you're not sure what you're allowed to do on your building, get in touch — a conversation early on can save a lot of trouble later.

05 / GETTING STARTED
Send a few photos.
A few photos of the window and a rough description of the problem is usually enough for me to tell you what's likely involved, before anyone commits to anything.
